THREE members of Coniston Crusaders brought back seven trophies between them and a special award for effort from competing at the National Crusader Sports at Copthall Stadium near Henden in London.
Twelve-year-old Naomi East from Coniston led the way with three first places in the Under-13 events of 800 metres, long jump, 100 metres and the Victor Ludorum.
But 13-year-old James Beech, also of Coniston, produced the performance of the championships by breaking the 30-year-old record for the Under-14 long jump with 5 metres 5 cm.
He also added the 400 metres and the 200 metres to his list of victories.
Both Naomi and James have competed in the last three championships with similar success, but it was the first time for 11-year-old Jessica Hadwin, of Torver, who came an excellent second in the Under-12 long jump despite two huge no-jumps. She was also awarded a special medal for her brave efforts in the 100 and 200 metres.
The three athletes were rewarded with a sight- seeing night out in London before travelling home the following day.
