AFTER 10 days' inaction Kendal Town are raring to go in a home double header.

Tomorrow (Saturday) they face AFC Telford United in a crunch UniBond League First Division clash and on Tuesday Rossendale United are the visitors for a UniBond League Cup clash.

Last week's away trip to Shepshed Dynamo was lost because of a waterlogged pitch but manager Tony Hesketh said he had not appreciated the Premier-ship-style ten-day break.

"I know that the games were coming thick and fast before that, but I like it that way," he said.

"Tomorrow should be a good test of where we stand in the league. Telford are fifth in the table and six points above us, but have played two games more.

"They have good support and are likely to bring over 200 fans with them, so it would be nice to see some more Kendal fans down to cheer us on.

"I think we are playing exciting football and banging in four or five goals a match, what more can we do to bring the crowds in?

"While we have been out of action results have gone against us, but the top clubs are now due to play each other and it is our chance to get up there amongst them.

"There are still 30 league games to go and plenty of points available.

"I have also got selection problems in that the squad is now virtually free from injury and Paul McMenemy and Russ McKenna are clear of suspension.

"McMenemy will probably come straight back in at left-back in place of Dave Burrow, but I intend to leave the rest of the side unchanged from that which drew with Warrington.

"We could have, and should have, had all three points there with the number of chances in the early stages, but as I wrote on the Kendal Town website, it was impossible to sustain the sheer dominance we had over the first 25 minutes.

"I see Tuesday evening's cup match with Rossendale more as a help than a hindrance with the league effort. As I said, I like the team to be in action often and we went out of the FA Cup far too early.

"Now we want to do well in the UniBond League Cup as well as in both the FA Trophy and Marsden Lancashire Trophy matches which come up in early November.

"The match with Fleetwood in the Marsden Cup should be a cracker as they are flying in the North West Counties League. I know their manager Tony Greenwood and he has assembled a good squad."
