STRIKER David Foster led the way with a hat-trick as Kendal made a successful quick return to Clitheroe's Shawbridge to progress to the next round of the FA Trophy.
Free-scoring Town, who fired five goals past the Lancashire side without reply in a UniBond League First Division fixture just nine days earlier, again proved too strong for the opposition as they totally dominated the second half.
In-form Foster gave Kendal a fifth-minute lead when his well-struck volley flew past goalkeeper Kris Richens and into the top corner of the Clitheroe net.
The home side drew level on 15 minutes through Paul Stansfield.
Mark Thornley saved striker Gary Jackson's initial effort but as the loose ball spun into the air it was Stansfield who headed the ball into the unguarded net.
The home side, who showed a number of changes from the previous meeting, were clearly inspired by the equaliser as they mounted a series of threats on the Kendal goal and came close to taking the lead on 26 minutes when Jackson seized upon a poor Dene Whittal-Williams back- pass only to miss an open goal after rounding Thornley.
Kendal regained the lead five mintes into the second half when Foster linked up with Kenny Mayes to round the keeper before scoring from an acute angle.
Home sub Robbie Smith thought he had levelled the score on 58 minutes with a shot on the turn, which looked destined for goal, but Thornley denied him with a superb back-peddaling tip-over.
Clitheroe then went close twice as Jackson hit the post and moments later had Thornley making a one-handed save low to his left.
Foster then completed his hat-trick to put Kendal in control. Peter Smith sent in a cross from the right which the home defence only half cleared and Foster swept the ball through a melee of players to make it 3-1.
The impressive Foster had a hand in Kendal's fourth goal when he cleverly worked his way past two defenders before cutting the ball back to Lee Ashcroft who stepped over allowing sub Michael Jack to blast home his first goal for Town with his first touch of the game.
How they rated: Thornley 8; Rigby 8 (Burrow 7, from 83 minutes), McKenna 8, Whittal-Williams 8, Taylor 8; Smith 8, Mercer 8 (Jack 7 from 79 minutes), Woodruffe 8, Ashcroft 8; Foster 9 (Sheppard 7 from 79 minutes), Mayers 8.
