THE EARLY leaders in the Premier Division of the British Energy North Lancs & District League both won on Saturday.
Kirkby Lonsdale were pushed all the way by a young Caton United.
Both sides battled hard to break the other down and Kirkby opened the scoring in the 75th minute when a Caton attack broke down and a Kirkby defender launched a long ball down the centre to find Yaffa Bojang, who outsprinted the defence to score.
Within a few minutes an identical move brought Kirkby's second, also scored by Bojang.
As Caton chased the game, Kirkby broke out and a burst by Steve Chapman put Luke Vernon in to make it safe for Kirkby with a third goal.
Caton got on the scoresheet with a Steve Oliver goal they deserved.
Surprise package CCM Dynamos are joint leaders are after 3-1 win at Boys Clubs.
Cartmel and Ingleton fought out a thrilling 0-0 draw with chances at both ends.
Although Cartmel had most of the play a draw was a fair result, leaving Cartmel the only unbeaten side in the top flight.
In Division 1, Cartmel Reserves moved into fourth position after winning the derby with Allithwaite Rangers 3-1.
In a fast and furious game, Cartmel were the most dangerous side with their speedy forward causing problems. Allithwaite could not cope with Rob Snaith, who scored tow superb goals with Brian Lowrie supplying the other.
Swarthmoor dropped their first points when held to a draw by Storeys Reserves.
Swarthmoor were far superior in the first half and opened a 2-0 lead with goals from Gavin Jolleys and Graham Willcock but a poor second-half showing allowed Storeys to level the scores through Tom Spencely and Chris Hobbs.
A young Vince FC held Ingleton Reserves to a 3-3 draw.
Two goals from David Baren and one from Dave Shaw made up the Ingleton tally, while Andy Ward, Ben Wood and Rob Barker replied for Vince.
Burton Thistle recorded their second league win in six attempts with a 4-2 victory over Holme Athletic. Thistle's scorers were Mark Smith, Chris Plevey, Rob Evans and Richard Hayhurst, with Stuart Lord bagging both of Holme's efforts.
Match of the day in Division 2 saw Bentham beat Grange 2-1 and dislodge them at the top of the table.
Gary Louth scrambled an early goal for Bentham and they got a fortunate second when a shot flipped up off a divot and the Grange keeper caught it but fell back over his line. A 200-yard free kick from Craig Turner pegged one back from Grange but experience Bentham held firm. Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers were no match for Morecambe hoops, losing 5-1 with Robert Goldsborough hit a four-timer. Kirkby's consolation came from Ebou Bojang.
