Beaten only once this season, Highgate Hotel were firm favourites in the final of Kendal Putting Association's Knockout Cup.
Opponents Farleys had other ideas, however, and long-time team members Brian Clemmet, Trevor Jackson and Ian Birkbeck tore the heart out of the Hotel side for a 5-1 victory, something to shout about at last for a side who have been short on the silverware.
The Gooseholme Trophy, for lower division sides, went to Second Division Crobat, Chris Jones, Barry Lewis and Mike Stock recording a 5-1 victory over Rat Pack.
In the final stages of the Grand Masters Singles, Graham Dawson, languishing at the bottom of the table had four spectacular wins to rise to joint second with one game to play. His victories included the competition's lowest round of 38.
On Sunday Kev's Nine-hole Trophy, over four rounds, tees off at 1pm on the Gooseholme course.
