INGLETON have started this season far better than last and have won their last three games, lifting them to sixth in the Premier Division and only four points off the pace.

On Saturday they fully deserved their 3-1 victory over Morecambe Royals.

Ingleton started at a high tempo, taking the game to Royals and went 2-0 up after 10 minutes with well-taken goals from Philip Eccleston and Chris Bibby.

Royals then came more into the argument and Ingleton keeper Ian Kellett made two good saves before Royals finally scored a deserved goal after 80 minutes.

This brought Ingleton back to life and in the final minutes they broke away for debutant David Priest finishing off a flowing move well to seal the three points.

Ingleton Reserves went to Skipton Bulldogs Reserves in their bid to retain the Craven FA Norman Pratt Trophy for a third season and came away with an easy 8-0 victory with goals from Michael Lockland (3), Dave Baren (2), John Platten with a 40-yard spectacular, Dave Shaw (pen) and Michael Howson.

Premier League leaders Kirkby Lonsdale completely dominated the first half of their match with Boys Club and the trusty left foot of veteran defender Paul Gibson produced the only goal of the game, a curling free-kick.

Kirkby played exciting football and good goalscoring opportunities fell to striker Yaffa Bojang, Chis Vincent and David Chapman who were denied by some fine saves by Boys Club keeper Derek Davies.

The second half continued with Kirkby well in control and some dazzling runs by Bojang.

Missed opportunities, combined with three forced substitutions through injuries, allowed Boys Club to get back into the game late on but they failed to make it count In Division One, leaders Torrisholme had to come from behind to beat Holme Athletic 3-1. Holme dominated the first half but could only score once, through Stuart Lord and will rue the penalty miss that would have given them a 2-0 lead.

Allithwaite Rangers remain without a win from four games after going down 4-3 to Community Sports. Dave Addison and Robert Pockerington gave Allithwaite a 2-0 interval lead.

Goals by Paul Fairclough and Simon Brister (2) turned the game in Community Sports favour in the second half, but Pockerington equalised and the game looked to be heading for a 3-3 draw until sub Nick Barrett headed an unlikely winner.

In Division Two, leaders Grange and Bentham both had good wins. Grange thumped Westgate Rangers 7-0 with goals by Peter Gadsden (3), Michael Purvis, Steve Porter, Craig Turner and Tom Stoker.

Bentham trailed 1-0 to Arnside at half-time through a Chris Hennerberry goal, but cut loose in the second to score five through James Earnshaw, Gary Louth (3) and David Knapp. Third-placed Morecambe Hoops struggled to beat Swarthmoor SC Reserves 1-0, eventually taking the points through a Darryl Evans own goal.

Newcomers Park were too good for Allithwaite Reserves and won their Division Three match 3-0. Galgate Reserves comfortably defeated a young Grange Reserves side 3-1, Luke Foster scoring the Grange goal, but the young Trimpell side surprised the more experienced Millhead Reserves and won 3-1, Wayne Jackson scoring for Millhead.
