THE FIRST Thwaites 20-20 final was set to feature Kendal last night (Thursday), when they were away to Leyland Motors.
Kendal won through to the showpiece with a 29-run win over Blackpool at Shap Road last Thursday.
Good efforts from Kendal's top four batsmen saw them set a 10-an-over target of 203-5 with Ahmed Elech (48), Terry Hunte (38), Kabir Khan (41) and Ikram Ullah (37) all in the runs.
Rapid scoring from Blackpool's Tim Barry, who crashed 75 off only 38 balls, put the visitors in with a chance, but Kendal broke through to take three wickets in the last fours overs to restrict them to 174 in reply.
n Chorley finger-spinner Nick Woods proved to be Kendal's downfall in the league on Saturday.
Woods struck with 6-26 as the Shap Road men were dismissed for only 124 in 37 overs.
Opening bowler Stephen John removed both openers with only 15 on the board.
Then Wood did the rest of the damage with the wickets of Kevin Howarth, Simon Little, David Fallows, Adrian Raynor, Stuart Parkin and Chris Miller.
Kabir Khan fared best with 41 before he was run out with the score on 70 and Kendal never recovered.
Chorley opener Tom Smith made an unbeaten 62 in reply as Chorley sealed a seven-wicket win in 31 overs.
