James Ellison turned in a stunning World Superbike performance at Brands Hatch with a fifth and sixth in the two races to make the Kendal rider the best performing Brit in front of a huge home crowd.
Despite having a stone puncture the radiator of his Jentin Racing machine in the first free practice session Ellison just made it into Superpole with the 16th quickest time. He put the problem behind him in the high-pressure one lap qualifying to book 9th place on the grid.
On race-day Ellison brought home the Yamaha YZF-R1 in sixth place in race one, and this was followed up by a superb fifth in the second race after an intense battle for fourth with Chris Walker on the Petronas.
Ellison said: "Holing the radiator put us on the back foot, but from then on everything went like clockwork. It was a perfect weekend. We are improving a place each outing in the World Superbikes. Looking to Assen in a few weeks we'll be chasing a fourth and hopefully a podium!"
