KENT Valley Road Club cyclists did well in Sunday's sun-drenched VTTA (North Lancs) open 100-miles time trial around the lanes of the North Fylde, finishing second in the team event to the North Lancs RC but ahead of Preston Wheelers.
The Kent Valley challenge was led by John Leach who finished an outstanding seventh in 4hrs 19mins 51secs and the other KV times were: first-timer Paul Clavey 4-31-03; Richard Belk 4-34-14; and Terry Bell 4-36-00 in an event won by North Lancs RC's Stuart Whitehead in 3-59-31.
Other local times (all Lancaster CC) were: Simon Jones 4-28-16; B. Kennedy 4-41-08; and Gary Bowker 5-47-59 and the fastest woman was Carol Westmorland (Border CityWheelers) of Lazonby in 4-47-00.
n Douglas Davies ended Adrian Yate's unbeaten sequence in Kent Valley events when he edged to victory by just one second in last week's club 10-miles time trial on the Levens course.
A warm evening produced a crop of good performances as riders made up for lost time in earlier season events.
