BOTTOM teams made the headlines in Division One of Kendal and District League.

Bottom but one, Holme B had an amazing 9-1 home win over Bowness A. Not for the first time, reliable Ted Thomas was Bowness' only winner.

Not to be outdone, Ingleborough A, in last place, recorded only their second win with an 8-2 victory over KA Hale B. This reduces Hale's safety cushion from the relegation places from 18 to just 11 points.

At the top, Netherfield A continue their winning form with a 7-3 away victory at Levens A.

In the battle between third and second, KA Hale A beat Victoria A 8-2 to take over second place by one point.

Holme A stay fourth despite a 6-4 defeat at Windermere A.

In Division Two, top team Arnside A played second-placed Burneside A and improved their lead to six points as a result of their 7-3 home win.

Netherfield C jumped from sixth to third by beating Levens B 9-1, James Crorie securing the away team's only win.

Ambleside and Kirkby Lonsdale lost ground on the leaders and drop from joint third to joint fifth, both losing 7-3, Ambleside at home to Lower Holker A and Kirkby Lonsdale away at bottom team Abbot Hall B. Crosthwaite A and Victoria B also had 7-3 victories against Subscription A and Milnthorpe A who are both struggling near the bottom of the table.

There is no change at the top of Division Three as all the leading six teams won.

Allithwaite A won 9-1 at home to Arnside B, but only increase their lead by one point as second-placed Staveley beat bottom team Lower Holker C 8-2 away.

In the Lakeland derby, Windermere B beat Bowness B 8-2 away to retain fourth place while Burneside B, third, travelled to near neighbours Victoria C to win 7-3.

Lower Holker B closed the gap on the top four with an excellent 9-1 win over struggling Sedbergh, Gilbert Bainbridge scoring their Sedbergh's point. In another other local derby, Burton shaded out Holme C 6-4.

In Division Four, leaders Endmoor's 11-match run of wins came to an end, but their draw at Levens C was a valuable result in their quest for the title and promotion. Although they won the games 5-3, they lost the aggregate by two shots. Their lead is now 23 points over Heversham A who inflicted a 9-1 defeat on Lower Holker D, Ted Wilson winning Holker's only point.

Crosthwaite B have taken fifth place from the Holker team, thanks to an 8-2 home win over Heversham B who drop to equal last place with Milnthorpe B who had a resounding 8-2 win over Victoria D.

Result of the day was the 6-4 win of bottom but one Subscription C over third-placed Netherfield D. Burneside C stayed in contention for a promotion place thanks to a 7-3 home win over Allithwaite B.
