DUE to lack of wind for Saturday's 17-foot race, a short course was set in the south lake.
By starting time there was a moderate south-westerly and Pilgrim got away to a good start chased all the way by Liberty.
They had a good race and Pilgrim, helmed by Graham Tullet, the fleet's youngest helmsman, recorded his first win. The short legs of the course made for a very close and exhausting race.
Class captain Mike Walsh sailing Rhythm and his young crew 12-year-old Jonathan won the classic fleet with Snark second and Whisper third.
There was a welcome return to the fleet of Ian Frith crewing in Deva for the first time since his recent accident.
A near record start of 21 yachts started on a lovely sunny afternoon for Monday's race with a good southerly wind.
Amira, Rhythm and Whisper all made good starts with Chameleon making an unusually poor one she had to battle her way through the fleet to gain a customary first place by the time she got to the Beech Hill mark.
Some big windshifts caused significant place changes, Rhythm and Whisper being badly affected.
Vanity and Niaid went particularly well up in the second beat behind Chameleon, the winner.
Niaid won the classic fleet with Vanity second and Amira third.
On Tuesday, 17 yachts started in the traditional "round the lake" race in superb conditions. The sun was shining and there was a strong south south-easterly wind.
Chameleon was chased all the way up the fleet by Vanity. Niaid overtook Vanity to gain first classic place. A beat from Pullwyke to Henholme saw some more good racing with Deva coming through to gain second place.
The whole fleet finished within six minutes of the leader with the last four home virtually overlapping.
