PHIL Bovis who has transferred his allegiance to Warton from Silverdale weighed in with an unbeaten 98 on his home debut against Windermere in the Over-Sands Division One Trophy.
Bovis was only denied his century by equally impressive Ricky Nelson who came and grabbed a large share of the strike as he hit 72.
Earlier 15-year-old opener Ryan Nelson scored 56 to complete a fine weekend for father and son as they had scored 52 not out and 50 not out in Warton's league match with Ibis.
Warton doled out a lot of punishment to the Windermere attack, which included normally prolific wicket-taker Nick Lewthwaite and totalled 262-3 from the 25 eight-ball overs.
Windermere could never attain the required run-rate although they made a brave stab at it. Lewthwaite made up for his lack of bowling success with a knock of 58, but the overs ran out with Windermere on 189-6.
Milnthorpe caused an upset by sending Westgate toppling to a six-wicket first-round exit.
The Morecambe-based side put 39 on the board from the first three overs, but the bowlers tightened up their act and spinner Lee Hargreaves benefited to the tune of 4-29 as Westgate were restricted to 145-8.
In reply Mike Wills went early and Pod' Pennington played on to leave Milnthorpe on 20-2.
Chris Baldwin then took the attack to the Westgate bowlers for a fine unbeaten 86. Lee Illingworth chipped in with 24 and Milnthorpe reached the target at 148-4.
