KENDAL Seconds were the dominant force in the Second XI derby match at Shap Road recording a winning draw over their visitors on Bank Holiday Monday.
On winning the toss Kendal batted and amassed a respectable 185-9.
In-form Paul Dowker made the backbone of the score with 44 and Craig Brown, batting at No. 10, added a flurry of late runs with an unbeaten 30.
Netherfield's Russ Miller took 3-54, Matt Clinton 2-16, R. Wilson 2-37 and T.
Barton 2-26.
Netherfield were kept in check by the home bowlers and struggled to mount a serious challenge to that target and closed on 113-7.
Denying Kendal in a spirited rearguard action were S. Jones (32) and Phil Hartley (28) who shared an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 47 in 12 overs. Best of the Kendal bowlerswere Andy Dugdale who took 2-22 and Adrian Potts 2-30.
Netherfield had a winning draw with Barrow Seconds at Parkside Road on Saturday.
Netherfield were put in to bat and made 180 for 9, with Ben Haddrick top-scoring on 47 (eight fours) and knocks of 28 from S. Jones and 20 from J. Winder. D. Parker took 3-50 and T. Bamber 2-16.
In reply Barrow closed on 162-6. After both openers went for ducks, Kermode (75) pulled things round until he was run out.
C. Adams (51 not out) held Netherfield at bay with Ryan Wilson taking 2-40 off 13 overs.
Kendal went down to a seven-wicket defeat by Morecambe on Saturday., Dowker hit a top-scoring 58 out of Kendal's score of 160 all out with T. Barton (20) and P. Ellwood (20) chipping in as R. Cupid took the first five wickets for 5-44 and F. Patel the last three for 3-68.
Morecambe put on 71 before the first wicket fell and knocked off the runs at 162-3 with N. Milner hitting 54 not out and G. Maje 46.
