THE ANNUAL Kendal Police Schools Five-a-side football competition took place last Sunday, when junior schools from all over the area played for trophies and medals provided by the Cumberland Building Society.
All of the teams played excellent and committed football, but there were a number of surprises with none of the pre-tournament favourites making it through to the last four.
Instead, Staveley, St. Mark's Natland, Lindale and Vicarage Park battled it out for the main prize.
Vicarage Park (pictured above) won the trophy with a number of assured and confident displays, while St. Mark's finished runners-up and Staveley pipped Lindale for third place.
Player of the tournament was awarded to George Close from Sedbergh.
Thanks went to Dean Gibson School for use of their facilities and their parents for providing refreshments, the Cumberland BS for sponshorship and the Westmorland FA and Neighbourhood Watch for their support.
