SCIENCE teacher Russ Miller had the right formula for 7-46 as Netherfield Seconds beat Leyland Motors by four wickets in the NPL Second Division on Saturday.
After Miller's medium pace ripped through the batting Motors were confined to 136 all out with A. Cross (38) and A. Makinson (25) faring best.
Netherfield's innings got off to a sticky start when the top three batsmen went for a combined score of 19,.
Alex Hampshire (53, seven fours) and Steve Jones (41 not out, five fours) pulled things round and steered them to a 12-point victory at 141-6 in 38 overs.
Kendal Seconds suffered a three-wicket defeat by Darwen Seconds in the league at Shap Road, but won in the Oxbridge Trophy on Sunday..
Kendal were all out for 90 against Darwen with D. George (26) and T. Barton (23). Barton adding late runs when Kendal were 66-7.
Darwen's bowling effort was spearheaded by D.
Bonner 4-8 and A. Cook 3-19.
Kendal had the visitors at 15-3 in reply but S. Painter (38) halted the slide and M. Emery (36) supplied impetus to take clinch victory at 91-7. Kendal's Craig Brown took 3-24 with A. Potts 2-8 and A. Dugdale 2-25.
Holders Kendal beat Westgate by four wickets in the Oxbridge Trophy on Sunday.
