Steve Littler from Wesham AC won the first race in the Kendal AC 10k Midweek Series, held from Kendal Leisure Centre.
Littler (32.42) had a minute and 40 seconds to spare over second-placed Danny Parkinson (34.22) of Lancaster and Morecambe. Alasdair Russell was the first Kendal runner (36-35). Dallam's Hazel Jones (40-31) made light of her tiredness from the London Marathon to be first woman, with Christine Handforth (Kendal), second and Sue Oxley (Helm Hill) third.
The Lyth Valley 10k is the next run in the series on Wednesday, June 2 (starts Levens Village Hall 7pm).
n The Bendrigg 10k/fun run, sponsored by W. McClure Ltd, takes places on Saturday, June 12 with all proceeds to the Bendrigg Trust, a charity which helps to fund the residential activity centre for disabled and disadvantaged people.
The 10k starts at 2pm from Bendrigg Lodge, near Old Hutton, with the fun run of about two miles getting off at 2.10pm.
