WINDERMERE Hockey Club's under-11 boys team represented the North at Mini Hockey national finals in Nottingham.
Although they failed to win a match against the top teams from the rest of the regions, they knew just to be there was a massive achievement.
All the other regions had at least one outstanding player capable of making a huge difference.
These star players will go on to be England players of the future and to see them perform was a real eye-opener for the Windermere team and coaches.
"They have been superb ambassadors for Cumbria, taking on and beating teams from big cities and clubs in the National League and we are proud of every one of them," said coach Jeff Jackson of the squad, which had been unbeaten for 15 matches and lifted three championship titles.
Lakeland Ltd, Rayrigg Motors, WF Sports and community bodies such as SLDC, ActiveMark and Windermere Rotary contributed towards giving the boys and their parents a weekend to remember.
