NETHERFIELD Seconds' skipper Phil Hartley returned 5-23 with his pace bowling but it did not stop Millom Seconds sneaking a two-wicket home victory on Sunday in the Oxbridge Trophy, the county-wide competition for Second XIs.
Asked to bat, Netherfield made 130 all out with openers Byron Kennedy, 58 (1 six, 6 fours), and Danny Welbourne, 26, the only batsmen to reach double figures as Millom skipper David High took 5-27.
Millom's No. 3 batsman Russ Arnold hit 41 to hold together their innings and they reached the target at 131-8 in 28 overs.
Netherfield lost by 66 runs to St Annes in Saturday's NPL Division 2 match at Parkside Road.
St Annes made 217-8 with D. Bartholomew faring best with 58, supported by A.
Taylor (39) and R. Bradley (33). Matthew Clinton took 2-26, Danny Welbourne 2-47 and T. Barton 2-56.
Welbourne made 50 (8 fours) in Netherfield's reply and there were runs from Hartley (37) and J. Winder (27), but they were dismissed for 151 in 47 overs with Steve Bickerdike taking 5-48.
