A JUNIOR team entered the Pro-Am Golf Weekend in aid of Cancer Care at Kendal Golf Club for the first time and walked off with the main trophy as they put their elders in the shade.
Kendal professional Peter Scott has been so impressed with the juniors' efforts and enthusiasm this season that he paid the entry fee and the lads rewarded him with a winning score of 23 under par.
The triumphant team comprised Daniel Park, the youngest of the three at age 11, Stuart McDonald, 13 and Ben Waller - the old man of the party at 18!
Accomplished five handicapper Waller, who works part-time in the Kendal professional's shop, set a high standard by playing the first nine holes in four under par 29, which was the best scoring on the day, including the professionals.
His schoolboy team-mates are also rated two of the most promising juniors to play at Kendal in many years.
Park, who goes to Heron Hill Primary School, has seen his handicap drop from 28 to 20 this year, while Queen Katherine School pupil McDonald has made similar startling progress, from 22 to 16.
The Kendal juniors won from the Ian Park's Also Rans and the Kendal Golf Club team of the captain plus two medal-winners were third.
