A feast of Kwik Cricket is planned next month with cricket festivals taking place at both Kendal CC and Netherfield CC ahead of a showcase grand final at Keswick.
The winners of the Kendal (June 8) and Netherfield (June 14)
festivals go through, along with other district winners, to the final of the Cumbria BBC Sport Kwik Cricket Tournament, sponsored by Sport Relief, to be held at Keswick on Friday, June 18.
The top six schools from that event will represent Cumbria in the North region finals at Durham CC's Riverside ground on Wednesday, June 23.
Kwik cricket will also feature for the first time at the Cumbria Youth Games in Allerdale on June 26.
Netherfield CC is also hosting the new Cumbria District U13 and U15 Festivals on June 1 and 2 (10. 15am), which brings together six district teams made up of players who are on the verge of the county squads.
Bob Simpson, the Cricket Development Officer for Cumbria said: "This year sees some exciting developments and once again has exceeded expectations... it is a tremendous achievement as Cumbria tops the poll in primary school participation."
