TWO young cricketers have combined to rewrite the record books at Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
Jack Turnton and Michael Wellings both hit maiden centuries for the school's Under 13 team in an unbroken 252-run partnership.
Jack finished on 130 not out and Michael with an unbeaten 122 as the hapless bowlers of Arnold School were dispatched to all corners of the ground in a 275 for 1 total, made off just 30 overs.
In reply, Arnold were 56 all out as young bwlers Stuart Brown (3-8), Matthew Liptrott (3-8) and Oliver Saunders (3-23) all tried to grab a slice of the glory.
It is the first time two players have ever scored centuries in the same match for the school's under 13 team.
In fact the last ton-up boys were Philip Moffat and Philip Dennison now playing for Morecambe who each scored centuries in consecutive matches for LRGS in 1988.
In rewriting the records, Jack hit his first 50 off 47 balls in 55 minutes and went to his century in 78 balls.
His 130 not out came off a total of 94 balls in105 minutes and included19 fours and four sixes.
Michael's first 50 was even quicker, in just 42 balls, and his century also came off 78 balls. His innings included 14 fours and six sixes off 84 balls faced.
