HONOURS ended even and with 60 points scored it made for great entertainment, but Kendal will feel short-changed for their endeavours in a 30-30 draw with Macclesfield at Mint Bridge in National League 3 North on Saturday.

Lock-forward Andy Hudson popped up out of position of either wing for two tries in two minutes midway through the first half in what had looked the determining sequence of the match.

Kendal were coming back after the Cheshire visitors had opened the scoring with an unconverted try from Matt Smith after having the best of the opening quarter of an hour.

Kendal were on top at this stage but could add only a penalty to their lead before half time through Dan Stephens for an 18-5 advantage at the break.

Instead of Kendal maintaining their control, it was Macclesfield who came back strongly, dominating possession and kicking their way downfield helped by unforced errors.

Centre Steve Davidson burst over from a scrum and then Liam Lawton also found a gap in the defence from another set-piece move to take them ahead at 18-19 courtesy of Ben Coulbeck's conversion.

When the referee failed to bring play back for a knock-on, Kendal leaked a fourth try and scrum-half Andy Price shot down the wing for another score.

Kendal got back ahead when Adrian Bateson crashed his way over from Stephens' quick tap penalty, but a 25-24 lead was shortlived as a penalty put the visitors back ahead.

Six minutes from time, Mark Bowman forced his way over for an unconverted try as Kendal went 30-27 up but Macclesfield earned a point with a penalty that just scraped inside the post.
