The rearranged North Feeder League women's match between Kirkby Stephen and Dalston took place on Sunday at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, having been called off the week before after only 12 minutes of play due to injury and the weather.

On a cold but much better day, both teams started well and were determined to win this important match between the two Cumbrian teams in the league.

Dalston took the lead with a strong individual goal after a break down the wing set up a score into the top corner.

Kirkby Stephen rallied to equalise soon afterwards with Sarah Richardson making it 1-1.

Kirkby kept playing well, working together as a team, and Mel Earl scored a superb goal, placing a controlled shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1 at half time.

Both teams renewed the contest keenly in the second half as the game remained in the balance. Kirkby battled hard, putting pressure on the visitors' defence and Liz Newcombe scored after quarter of an hour to extend Kirkby's lead to 3-1.

Strong play from both the defence and midfield led to a fourth and final goal from a penalty corner with Becky Richardson converting to seal a convincing and much-needed win for the Kirkby Stephen side.
