CUMBERLAND were looking to capture two quick wickets this morning (Monday) to get a chance to reply to Northumberland, who had Gary Scott's unbeaten 115 to thank for a an overnight score of 239-8 in their Minor Counties Championship match.
The start at Jesmond on Sunday was dlayed due to rain until 3.40pm but play was able to continue to an extended 8pm.
With skipper Marcus Sharp unavailable because he was playing for Lytham in the Lancashire Cup quarter-finals, aciting captain Gary Pratt won the toss and insert the hosts.
Scott, coming in at the fall of the second wicket, batted 185 minutes, faced 135 balls and hit 15 fours and three sixes.
Ian Sharp, the Cumberland team manager, said: "The game is evenly poised but we need to capture the remaining two wickets and bat all day tomorrow (Monday).
