TWENTY-one wickets fell during the opening day of Cumberland's Minor Counties clash with Staffordshire on Sunday.
Staffordshire were dismissed for 129 in 51.1 0vers with Greg Wilmott top-scoring on 28 not out. Alex Stead took 3-21 and Daryl Wearing 3-25.
Cumberland fared worse, being outsted for 122 in 49.1 overs.
Alex Stead again featured with 61 to add to his wickets, while for Staffordshire David Edwards (4-32) and Greg Wilmott (4-33) shared the spoils.
Ian Sharp, the Cumberland team manager, said: "Despite 21 wickets falling ni the day there was nothing wrong with the wicket, but there were some bad shots played by both sides.
"Alex Stead showed with his excellent innigns that runs can be accumulate with paitnece."
