THE FIRST heavy rainfall of the current season took its toll on the local Furness football fixtures which featured among 47 venues, spread over three leagues, that failed to withstand the weather.
In the AEGON West Lancashire Premier Division, BAE Systems SC hosted newly-promoted Coppell United and held the Chorley side to a 2-2 draw, with Stuart Walker netting both of their goals.
Dalton United were on Railway Meadow to face Wyre Villa and strikes from Gareth Jones, Tom Brockbank and Dave Mansergh took the points for Dalton to retain third place in the table.
In Division 2, Furness Rovers visited Aspull and came away with a 5-1 defeat, Steve Crompton their scorer.
Furness Cavaliers visited BAE Canberra and moved above their hosts with a 3-1. Two goals from Mark Johnson and one from Peter Staunton made up their tally.
