TRACK runner Dave Allen from Garsdale was voted the Lakeland Sportsperson of the Year at Sunday's presentation dinner in the Kendal Arms. Wrestler Stuart Fleming (Backbarrow) was runner-up.
The awards are made under the auspices of the Lakeland Sports Promoters Association.
Wrestler John Harrington (Bassen-thwaite) took the Under-18 award, with fell-runner Stuart Hunn (Skipton) runner-up.
At Under-14 level, wrestling again topped the awards with Haltwhistle's Richard Walton taking the top honour with fell-runner Ryan Thornbarrow (Troutbeck Bridge) runner-up.
Fell-runner Gemma Crowther (Kendal) was the first girl.
Awards of merit were made to four Under-12 junior athletes in wrestler Ben Brocklebank (Warton), wrestler John Longworth (Ulpha) and fell-runners Thomas Sessford (Silsden) and Tom Doyle (Ulverston).
