MILLOM increased their lead at the top of the John Smith’s North Lancashire and Cumbria League Premier Division to 14 points with a 139-run win over visitors Vickerstown.
Batting first, Millom rattled up 257-5, openers Alviro Peterson (83) and Robert Bell (78), sharing a first-wicket partnership of 126, with Stuart Swallow hitting 66, while Kenroy Peters took 3-57.
The visitors were then dismissed for 118, Phil Thompson top-scoring with 42 as Peterson returned 6-35 in a man of the match display as ’Town dropped to sixth place.
Haverigg moved into second place with a losing draw at Wigton, the home side batting first to score 187-9, Greg Morton top-scoring with 56, Steven Evens taking 3-23 and Roy Carton 2-51.
In their reply Haverigg reached 178-9, Peter Brockbank top-scoring with 79 not out while Danny Braithwaite returned 4-26.
Whitehaven dropped from second to third after a losing draw at home against Lindal Moor, the visitors batting first to make 205-8, Paul Webster top-scoring with 66, Stephen Holliday taking 3-55 and Habib Baloch 2-31.
Whitehaven fell 22 runs short of their target with 184-7, Davendra Bundella scoring 50. John Atkinson took 2-32 and Colin Knight 2-44, as Lindal moving up to fifth.
Champions Barrow had to settle for a winning draw against Cleator, after batting first to score 194-9, Raul Lewis making 41 and opener Neil Lauderdale 33, Mohamed Masroora taking 3-55.
Cleator hung on for 150-8, Paul Nelson top-scoring with 36, Lewis taking 2-14 and Ray Mowat 2-37 as Barrow retained fourth position.
Furness entertained Workington and earned a wining draw after batting first to score 189-8, opener Stuart Knox continuing his good form with 44, Simon James taking 4-37 and Mike Turner 2-27.
Workington replied with 163-8, young opener Shaun Woolf top scoring with 64, Springbok Wilem Du Toit returning 6-32 and Alan Sippy 2-39.
Duddon SC entertained Cockermouth at James Street and had to struggle to a losing draw after the visitors had scored 229-4, Riffat Ullah blasting an undefeated 124, and Mark Bowen 71.
In their reply of 157-7 Mario Ventura returned to form with 82, Steven Chambers taking 3-57 and Mark Bowen 2-18.
