KENDAL Town's latest win have moved them up to 14th place in The North West Counties Premier Division.
The Mintcake's latest win over Barnoldswick Town 3-1 on Wednesday night at The Jrobs Ground Maintenance Stadium has seen them climb the ranks.
The Mintcakes who are now undefeated in six league games and remain top of the form table impressed under the lights, for a league game which was switched to Wednesday night due to England’s televised World Cup Group encounter against Wales.
Kendal going into the game were buoyed by their 2-1 win against promotion chasing Congleton Town at the weekend and with confidence high Jimmy Marshall’s team were 3-0 up at half time.
Steve Yawson opened the scoring, following a good delivery down the right by Town shot stopper Danny Roccia, before Shaun Sailor made it 2-0 after he headed the ball into the net, while Tom Kilfins close range strike saw Kendal hold the advantage.
The visitors battled back during the second half and scored a late consolation before Kendal saw out the game to secure another win.
Barnoldswick Town dominated the first five minutes and had all of the possession while Kendal struggled to get a foot hold in the game.
And Kendal on their first attack opened the scoring after six minutes when a good delivery down the right hand side fell to Steve Yawson who cut inside before firing the ball into the net.
Kendal nearly went 2-0 up after Rob Wilson dragged his shot wide of the goal, while Danny Roccia made a good save at his feet after Barnoldswick tried to catch the team out with a quick free kick.
However Kendal made it 2-0 on 27 minutes after a cross into the box by James Stanley was headed into the net by Shaun Sailor before Tom Kilifins strike from the edge of the penalty area went into the net as The Mintcakes were 3-0 up at the break.
Jimmy Marshall’s team almost scored their fourth goal one minute into the second half after Ryan Winder lifted his effort over the bar before Danny Roccia made a good save as he stopped a shot going into the bottom left hand corner.
Tom Kilifin created another good opportunity volleying his effort over the ball while Barnoldswick got back into the game after Jack Foster headed the ball into the net.
Barnoldswick began to apply more pressure with Kendal Town defender Matt Flynn making a good block to stop the ball from going near the goal before Foster headed over from close range.
However Kendal regained control of the game while Yawson and Winder went close to scoring before the Mintcakes eased to victory.
Kendal were due to play Avro on Wednesday night (last night), while they are scheduled to host New Mills in The Macron Cup on Saturday weather permitting.
