NETHERFIELD suffered a third consecutive defeat after they lost by eight wickets to league leaders Blackpool at Parkside Road.
The Field paid the price for a disappointing batting performance during the first innings after they were bowled out for 107 off 45.4 overs, with Blackpool’s Indian Professional Shivam Chauhan returning figures of 4-26.
And Chauhan did the damage in the second innings after his undefeated knock of 44 off just 24 balls accompanied by Ciaran Johnson's 43 off 41 saw Blackpool ease to victory in just 13.3 overs closing on 108-2.
Netherfield, who won the toss and elected to bat, made a poor start after Josh Dixon picked out Chauhan off the bowling of Jamie Thomson.
With Netherfield toiling on 39-3, Ben Barrow and James Bowman attempted to offer some resistance, but Blackpool captain Paul Danson made a key bowling change as Chauhan was brought into the attack.
Chauhan who replaced Thomson, ripped through Netherfield’s attack after he picked up the wicket of Bowman, before seeing off Finlay Richardson, as Netherfield struggled on 58-5.
Blackpool continued to make light work of the hosts with Cumberland Minor Counties bowler Matthew Siddall taking the wicket of Brad Earl.
And Blackpool finished the Netherfield innings off after Barrow, who top scored with 35 off 78 balls, was caught by Matthew Grindley off the bowling of Chauhan as Netherfield were all out for 107 off 45.4 overs.
In reply, Netherfield made a stunning start when Tomas King fell to a fantastic catch by Isaac Medhurst off the bowling of Shrikant Mundhe with Blackpool 0-1 off the first ball of the innings.
Sam Dutton scored a quick-fire 16, but picked out Lewis Richardson off the bowling of Matt Jackson.
However, Chauhan’s undefeated knock of 44 off just 24 balls and Johnson's 43 off 41 balls saw Blackpool race to victory in just 13.3 overs closing on 108-2.
Netherfield did however bounce back in the Twenty-20 on Sunday after they defeated Chorley by 56 runs.
