KENDAL Town played their last two friendly games until July, where they suffered mixed results against both Hawcoat Park and Kendal County.
The week has seen both games bring out the best in the clubs, as well as show off further impressive performances from every player on the pitch.
The Mintcakes who fielded a mixed squad in both games, impressed at Hawcoat Park where they ran out 6-2 winners before losing 3-1 to Kendal County in the derby game on Tuesday night.
Despite the mixed success, the matches will help further prepare Kendal for the upcoming league matches.
Kendal was comfortable at Hawcoat Park on a very wet and miserable afternoon where braces from Adam Walton and Sheldon Mossop, alongside a goal from Chris Wraighte and Chris Humphrey rounded off a good performance.
The players braved the poor weather to put pressure on early, and keep in a dominant position throughout most of the match.
However, on Tuesday night Kendal Town played close neighbours Kendal County for the first time in years at Parkside Road.
This match got to enjoy a good number of spectators turning out on the glorious night.
After months of lockdown, some spectators are now free to watch their favourite team play.
Kendal County, who has a county cup semi-final game against Kendal United at the weekend, played well while Kendal Town struggled especially during the first half.
County started the game superbly well and were 2-0 up within the first 30 minutes after goals by Harry Routledge and Jason Jones.
Kendal Town found a way back into the game following a ball across the area which was finished from close range by Sheldon Mossop.
However, Kendal County extended their advantage two minutes later after Connor Walmsley headed the ball home past the keeper.
Chris Humphrey brought himself on for a majority of the second half and Kendal improved, creating some opportunities, while Joe Fiddler made a good save to keep the hosts at bay.
Kendal County defended well and looked a threat going forward through the pace of Bailey Carlos, while Connor Walmsley was a constant thorn for the Kendal Town defence.
Despite more pressure from the hosts, Kendal County were able to keep control and saw out the remainder of the game to celebrate a famous victory.
Kendal Town will now have one training session before finishing until July as they look to go again and hope to complete a full season.
However, The Mintcakes did find out who would be in the league for next season with 1874 Northwich, Bootle, Glossop North End, Kidsgrove Athletic, Leek Town, Market Drayton Town, Newcastle Town and Warrington Rylands all joining alongside some of the teams who were in the league last season.
Kendal Town are keen to prepare for their upcoming opponents, as well as get ready for the much anticipated charity exhibitor game against Carlile United on behalf of the George Melling fundraiser on July 21.
