THE FIRST round of the Junior Cup has kicked off in the James Cropper Westmorland Football League.
Round one of the Cup got underway on a competitive round of action.
The opening main game of the afternoon stood out as Kendal United Reserves' defeat over AFC Carlisle.
The match was held at Castle Drive and saw a 3-2 victory for Kendal.
Kendal United came out in a dominant effort from the start.
They surged into a 3-0 lead at half time.
Joe Carradus scored twice.
James Bennett also on target.
However, Nathan O’Neill’s brace late into the second half saw AFC Carlisle set up a tense finish before Kendal United held onto secure the win.
The game's ending showed some intense play and effort from the players on both sides.
In the other games defending Junior Cup holders Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves crashed to defeat after losing against Windermere Reserves.
The match ended with Windermere being up by a single goal.
Kirkby Lonsdale came away after a close fought match against Keswick Reserves with a win.
The game ended on 4-3 after penalties won them the game.
Chris Ladd achieved an impressive hat trick in his game with Sedbergh and Dent Reserves.
The match brought the team into the next round when they defeated Ullswater United by 5-2.
Endmoor KGR won 3-0 at Greystoke in The Senior Challenge Cup after goals from Brad Hodgson, Chris Bell, and Jacob Matthews while a goal from Liam Mason edged Sedbergh and Dent United into the next round winning 1-0 at Carleton Banks.
In James Cropper Westmorland League Division One, Wetheriggs United moved to the top of the division after they won 3-2 at Ibis.
Appleby defeated Windermere 2-1, while Shap picked up their first win of the season where they defeated Penrith Academy 3-2.
Staveley United won 2-0 at Ambleside United in Division Two, goals by Brodie Nicholson and Harry Lambert saw Ibis Reserves win 2-1 at Cartmel and District Reserves while Appleby Reserves defeated Kendal County Reserves 4-2.
Eden Thistle remained top of division three where they saw off Langwathby United 2-0, Braithwaite edged out Staveley United Reserves 1-0, Endmoor KGR Reserves won 2-0 at Kendal United’s A Team with Jay Nicholson and Owen Fitzsimmons on the score sheet.
Lunesdale United defeated Eden United 2-1.
While Kirkoswald Reserves routed Withering’s United Reserves 4-0.
