WESTMORLAND League saw another wave of impressive performances despite the poor weather conditions across the weekend.
Saturday saw only one game played as Heysham beat Trimpell by seven wickets.
Sam Calverley took 5/23 for Heysham, whilst Mark Baldwin (22) and Mark Huddleston (19) were top scorers for Trimpell as they slumped to 87 all out.
The Bare club were interrupted by the rain during their clash with Burneside.
Craig Albon and Archit Bhardwaj bowled Burneside out for 78 with Mark Ward reaching 28.
Bare had reached 17/0 before the rain interrupted the game.
Westgate scored 178/7 against Shireshead, who had a lost a wicket for no runs when rain struck.
A 57-run partnership between Mike Wills (42) and James Parkinson (29) helped Milnthorpe post 136 against Carnforth. Carnforth’s reply was stalled on 17/0.
Richard Hanson returned first innings figures of 4-34 after Sedgwick, who bowled Arnside out for 94, however the second innings lasted one over before the rain returned.
Warton posted a score of 123 against Silverdale, who were 12/0 when the match was cancelled.
Phil Oliver took 3/14 and Andrew Royce made 35 in Kirkby Lonsdale’s 128, with Shireshead seconds' innings ending on 20/1.
Fortunately, Sunday saw an improvement in the weather which allowed Heysham seconds to remain dominant in Division 3 after defeating Silverdale by eight wickets.
A waterlogged pitch forced Morecambe 3rd to switch locations to Woodhill Lane.
Steve Mawson (56) and Joe Entwistle (51) were in the runs as Morecambe declared on 174/5.
The efforts of Mark Brickles’ bowling took the side to 3/28.
In Division One B Heysham were the only team to get a result as they defeated Trimpell by seven wickets.
Meanwhile, Rob Hunts 37 and Ben McGregor’s undefeated 28 saw Ambleside claim a victory as they closed on 84-2 off 22.5 overs against Netherfield.
Division Three South saw Lauren Burgess’s second innings return of 6-28, which guided Bare to a 58-run victory over Shireshead.
A knock of 51 helped Morecambe thirds reach a 84-run victory against Bolton Le Sands.
Carnforth continued their dominant run in the league after defeating Westgate with a score of 84/8.
During this final match, Cameron Holmes’ undefeated knock of 49 was instrumental in seeing Carnforth Thirds to their latest win.
