AN IMPRESSIVE 3-1 win at West Lancashire League Division One Side Milnthorpe Corinthians saw Appleby progressed into the semi finals of The Benevolent Trophy.
The James Cropper Westmorland League Division One Leaders remained undefeated in all competitions but were faced with their toughest test as they played a very strong Corinthians team who had former Kendal Town player Steven Yawson in their starting 11.
In one of few games to survive the rain, goals from Bobby Atkinson, Joshua Addison Adams and Ben Jackson secured the win despite an early Milnthorpe equaliser by Yawson as the hosts' inconsistent run of form continued.
In the only other Trophy game to be played Wetheriggs United also booked their place in the semi finals with a 3-1 win after extra time against Sedbergh and Dent United.
Junior Cup holders Cartmel and District Reserves moved into the next round with a hard fought 3-1 win against Kendal County Reserves.
In the Westmorland League, only two games survived the weather.
Goals by Chris Marshall and Nathan McNeill saw Burneside win 2-0 at Penrith Academy in Division Two while Penrith Royal won 3-1 at Langwathby United in Division Three.
