FORMER Kendal opening bowler Jack White has signed a one year contract with County Championship Division One side Northamptonshire.
Fast bowler White played several season for the Shap Road club in the Northern Premier League and at the time was also a regular in the Cumberland team.
He left for Penrith in 2014 and in recent years he has played in the Cheshire Premier League and for Cheshire in the Minor Counties competitions.
In 2018 he became the first Englishman to win the First Grade Cricket Shield in Australia after his performances while playing with top New South Wales outfit Parramatta, where he often shared the bowling with Australian international Sean Abbott.
White is scheduled to return from playing club cricket in New Zealand in early February to commence training with Northamptonshire.
"He’s an older cricketer in terms of someone having their first stab at professional cricket," said the county's head coach David Ripley.
"He’s not your archetypal lad off the academy or young prospect, but his age is almost irrelevant because the miles on the clock are low.
"We’re very excited and I’m sure he’s not going to let anybody down."
