ON fire Milnthorpe Corinthians maintained their undefeated start to the West Lancashire League season by chalking up two wins this week.
On Saturday, Matthew Knipe’s brace guided them to a hard fought 2-1 win at Askam.
Knipe opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 49 minutes and netted a second penalty with eight minutes left, with Harvey Irvine's late Askam strike a mere consolation.
And on Tuesday, Peter Baxendale's 69th minute goal edged Corinthians to an important 1-0 win at Wyre Villa.
Kendal County also bagged two wins to continue their recovery from a poor start to the campaign.
On Saturday, three goals in the last 10 minutes from Connor Walmsley, Brody Moffat and an own goal earned a 3-0 win at Hesketh Bank, then on Tuesday they saw off Ulverston Rangers 5-3 in a dramatic encounter.
Kendal raced into a 2-0 lead when Walmsley and Cory Robinson scored, but Jack Gardner pulled a goal back before the break and Zach Milby levelled on 47 minutes.
Mark Jackson edged the visitors in front eight minutes later before County roared back and goals by Josh Casson, Bailey Carlos and Connor Walmsley saw them home.
In Division Two, Kendal United lost 5-3 to Furness Rovers at Castle Drive.
Ryan Fagan's brace put Furness 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes but three goals in 10 second half minutes from Cameron Toal-Lim, Bailey Kenny and David Crierie put United ahead.
However, their hopes were dashed when Joe Tindale, Ryan Barker and Dan Craig netted to give Furness the win.
Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves lost 3-1 at Coppull United Reserves in Reserve Division Two, Charlie Bingley with the consolation for Corinthians.
Kendal County travel to Lostock St Gerards on Saturday while Kendal United entertain Garstang Reserves.
Milnthorpe Corinthians' first and reserve team have no game.
The new James Cropper Westmorland Football League season got underway this week and Division One champions Keswick made a winning start as goals from Richard Bannister, Sam Reilly and an own goal saw them to a 3-1 win at Wetheriggs United on Tuesday.
Penrith Reserves won 3-2 at Endmoor on Saturday before losing out 2-0 to Appleby on Tuesday, while Windermere edged out Sedbergh Dent United 3-2.
In Division Two, Burneside and Kendal United Reserves battled out a 0-0 draw in The Chris Rose Memorial Trophy.
However Burneside registered their first win on Tuesday night when they defeated Staveley United 3-2, Jay Hayton, Chris Marshall and Brett Croskell on target for the newly promoted team.
Goals by Callum Moffatt, Cameron Khan and Denzel Huck saw Kendal County Reserves win 3-0 at AFC Carlisle.
Penrith Academy defeated Greystoke 3-1, while Sedbergh and Dent United Reserves saw off Windermere Reserves before battling past Ibis Reserves 3-1 on Tuesday.
Braces by Craig Willan and Adam Carter and a solitary strike from Jamie Armstrong saw Penrith Royal defeat Braithwaite 5-1 in Division Three.
In the other games Ullswater United won 4-1 at Eden United while Sedbergh and Dent United A edged out Langwathby United 4-3.
