HEYSHAM moved level on points with Arnside at the top of the Westmorland League with a 35 run win at Burneside.
They posted 211/9 dec with contributions from Jamie Antcliffe (38), Geoff Carter (39), Sam McClements (41) and Andy Powers (42) and Paul Wilson taking 6/72.
Rob Davies (45) led the chase, but when he was run out the home club’s chances went with him as Sam Calverley (5/66) and captain Powers (3/42) proved too much for the lower order.
Arnside earned a rain affected draw with Shireshead who posted 236/8 after Tom Jacques (53) and Adam Murphy (45) added 88 for the first wicket, before Simon Gould made 63 from just 35 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes.
Arnside were 69/3 when the rain came with Adam Richardson (35*) still at the wicket.
Just down the coast, the game at Silverdale (pictured left), saw Westgate win by 184 runs.
Craig Buchanan (pictured right in centre of pic with brother Zak and Andy Hill) hit his maiden century, while Dylan Conroy made 48 and the in-form Hill 61.
The Silverdale reply never got going with spin twins Zak Buchanan (6 for 27) and Andy Hill (3 for 27) ensuring a comprehensive win for Westgate.
Champions Carnforth were frustrated by the weather as Darren Nelson (5/41) and Jack Thompson (4/51) helped dismiss Milnthorpe for 142 but the rain came at tea, and Warton were similarly foiled after Ricky Nelson (72) top scored in their 201/4 against Holme.
James Lambert (40) played a captain’s innings as Trimpell made 116 against Sedgwick, who edged home by 2 wickets thanks to Carl Bevan (29), George Willacy (23) and Chris Evans (30).
Coniston replaced opponents Heysham 2nds at the top of Division 2, Bob Simpson (49) top scoring as the visitors made 204 and Elliott Newby taking 6/57 as Heysham fell 122 runs short.
Danny Wilkinson (41) was pivotal in Westgate 2nds reaching 110 as Malcolm Taylor took 5/20, and Jacob Vaughan’s 5/26 sparked a late Shireshead 2nd XI collapse s they earned a 12 run win.
In Division 3, Allan Strong (4/10) and Neil Moysey 44* starred as Holme 2nd XI beat Windermere, while Luke Deveney made 69 for Leven Valley in a draw against Silverdale 2nds.
Arnside 2nd XI’s Lee Pidgeon making 62 coming in at number 10 in one of the unfinished games.
In Division 4, Jonny Cormack took 5/42 for Milnthorpe 2nds as despite 54 from Gareth Johnston and 5/22 from Ian Semple, Trimpell 2nds lost by 3 wickets., while Ben Ferguson hit 97 for Kirkby Lonsdale 2nd XI.
