IT was a fantastic weekend for Netherfield’s second team as Dan Gaunt’s side picked up wins in both the league and cup.
On Saturday, they claimed their first league win of the season after they defeated second placed Blackpool by 48 runs at Parkside Road.
Finlay Richardson’s knock of 69 as well as Stephen Jones’ 36 and skipper Gaunt’s 35 saw the home side close on an imposing 217.
Blackpool’s Joel Watson returned figures of 5-47 while Arran Lewin and Tomas King picked up two wickets each.
In reply Joel Bibby’s return of 4-59 saw Blackpool bowled out for 169 off 44.4 overs.
On Sunday, Netherfield progressed into the next round of the John Scott Cup after they won by 8 wickets at Haverigg.
Samuel Medhurst weighed in with figures of 4-17 before Dan Shorrock claimed 3-22 as Haverigg were all out for 85 off 31.2 overs.
In reply, Tom Anderton’s undefeated 42 and Joel Derham’s knock of 35 not out saw the visitors close on 86-2 off 24.1 overs.
