Long wait finally over
Windermere Men's 2s won 4-3 at Formby 4s on Saturday to end a six-year wait for a league victory at the Merseyside Club.
Their NW League Div 5 North North triumph still leaves them mid-table but it was a welcome boost after the disappointment of the previous week's home draw with Leyland & Chorley.
Teddy Ferguson fired Mere into an early lead and then made it two-nil before interval.
Formby upped their game and clawed one goal back, then drew level only for Orran Brownall to finish a cross from John Fairman to put Mere ahead once more. Formby then made it 3-3 but Mere were not to be denied and Brownell finished again at the back post to clincjh maximum points.
* Windermere Men's 1s' home game with Didsbury Northern 2s had to be called off on Saturday morning because Didsbury could not provide a qualified umpire. The game now has to rearranged in the next two weeks say North League.
