SPECTATORS and players at Eden Indoor Bowls Club now have an eagle eyed view of the action at the far end of the rinks thanks to a new overhead video camera system.
The club are the first in the country to have such a system installed, and now the club's 205 members can see the action unfold on flat screen TVs when they meet at Penrith Leisure Centre.
"The new cameras and screen is already improving the enjoyment of spectators and club members at the indoor bowling rink," said Eden District Council communities portfolio holder Cllr Elaine Martin.
"So hopefully by Penrith Leisure Centre being the only indoor bowls rink in England to have this equipment we can attract more high profile tournaments and increase the club’s membership."
The four camera system, which is placed above two rinks and displays an eight metre area on each rink on the TVs, was purchased through commercial sponsorship from Specsavers and a contribution from Eden District Council. The system was installed by contractors Cannan and Brown Ltd from Penrith.
