With Carnforth Rangers already having regained the North Lancashire Premier Division title, there was then the question of who would finish second.
Caton went down to Ingleton who in turn beat Cartmel and District to set up a great chance of finishing second. Cartmel came back fighting and put Caton in their place winning comfortably by 3-0. Their hopes of finishing second rested on Trimpell and Bare Rangers travelling to Ingleton and winning with a team weakened by withdrawals. On the day Ingleton did not play well enough to win the game and ended up losing 2-1. The game between Cartmel and Trimpell and Bare Rangers would now decide who ends the season as runners-up.
Cartmel with a superior goal difference only needed one point to secure second spot.
Trimpell travelled to Cartmel with a slightly stronger team than the one that beat Ingleton and after a good opening half hour it was 0-0. Cartmel's Carl Airey then turned on the style to score two great goals before half-time to give them the advantage. The second half again saw Airey on top form as he added two more to his total to win the game for his side. Trimpell did manage one goal scored by Tony Turner but at the end were a well beaten side. With just one game remaining Bowerham need not lose by more than 7 goals to Arnside to send Storeys down
into Division One with Bentham after their feeble performance when they lost 8-0 to Cartmel.
