Sedbergh School pupil Archie Davies, 14, represented Wales in The Under 16s Quadrangular golf tournament, playing against Ireland, Scotland and Holland at Hilton Temple Patrick, Ireland.
Ben Waterhouse, Performance Director for the Golf Union of Wales, said: “Archie came to our attention last year after a number of strong performances during the season and he was deservedly selected to represent Wales U16s for the first time in this competition.
"We look forward to following Archie’s career in golf, which I am sure will be long and successful.”
Archie, who plays three times a week during term time at Kendal’s Carus Green with coach Andrew Waple, said: “It was my first time being selected for an international team, after winning the U14s and coming second in the U15s championships.
"In this tournament I won two out three of the singles and two out of three foursomes.
"I’ve been playing since I was six, when I lived in Lincolnshire and used to go to the range with my sister Mollie, who is also at Sedbergh.
"I really enjoy the competition involved and have seen the sport rise in popularity as a Thursday afternoon activity here at school.”
