KENT Valley's midweek club 25 on the Levens course produced a crop of personal best times last week with David Baxter narrowly taking victory in 56min 58se from junior Calum Nicholson, who rode a lifetime best 57-02 despite twice unshipping his chain.

Andrew Barlow was third fastest in 57-02 and other leading performances were: Adrian Yate 57-34; Jim Ratcliffe 57-38; Lynn Hamel 58-00; Neil Cooper (Fire Service) 58-51; juvenile Jonathon Knox, a sparkling 59-40; John Leach 1-01-22; Nigel Hooker 1-01-37; Tony Dixon 1-01-38; Tim Bennett 1-02-28; Terry Tideswell 1-03-56; and Terry Bell 1-04-50.

Bank Holiday Monday's Lancaster CC club champ-ionship 10 was also held on the Levens to Meathop road and was won by Duncan Orme in 22-08 from Kent Valley guest John Ingham on 22-13.

Andrew Barlow was third in 22-22. Other local times were: Tim Bennett 24-30; Tony Dixon 25-10; Neil Stirling 25-17; Brian Kennedy 25-20; Martyn Smith 25-45; John Black 27-03 and Ann Nicholson 27-24.

John Black's ride brought the curtain down on a lifetime of competitive riding. The former Kent Valley and Lancaster CC time trialling champion has decided that, having reached the age of 70, he will compete no more so his 27-03 clocking would be his last racing performance.
