KENDAL Cricket Club, top of the Northern Premier League after their exciting derby victory over Netherfield last Saturday, face another big week of their season with three important matches in four days.
Saturday they seek to strengthen their grip on the league when they entertain Fleetwood at Shap Road, then on Sunday they are at home again to Fleetwood Hesketh from the Liverpool & District Lancashire Premier League in the National Club Knockout Cup. Both matches start at 1pm.
Next Tuesday (June 5) night it is off with the whites and on with the coloured clothing for the first action of the season in the smash and crash world of the Thwaites 20/20 competition. This time the opposition at Shap Road will be Morecambe and the action starts at 6pm.
CONISTON gullies provide the obstacle for fell runners this weekend in an event that is part of the British Open Fell Running Association Championship series. Runners will leave the Black Bull Inn, Coniston, at noon for an arduous tour of the undulating terrain around the 2,276-feet peak of the Old Man of Coniston.
