BROWNEYESBLUE is an each-way fancy for the opening race at Cartmel's Monday afternoon meeting.
Jimmy Moffatt's charge ran well enough at Aintree recently to suggest he can take a hand in the finish here, and looks a place bet at least for the local trainer.
Statute has little form to commend him, but as an Irish raider you have to respect him and a market move may be informative.
It's hard to escape the claims of Native Daisy in the 3pm race, a selling hurdle, as the selection attempts to follow up a recent all-the-way win.
But for the nap the Nostril picks Professor Hegarty in the totetexacta Beginners' Chase. Although yet to be tried over fences in public, Peter Bowen's charge has some very good Irish form over hurdles and is sure to have been well schooled.
Baltrasna is the selection for the 4.10pm, but this hunter chase looks a wide-open affair.
Flying Doctor looks well exposed but this 5.20pm closing race on the card is a poor affair and Tny Dobbin's presence on board suggests he will not be far away.
At Carlisle's flat meeting - a new fixture - I fancy taking on hot favourite Art Advisor in the 2.15pm with Mark Johnston's Chatham Island.
Johnston has a good line to the hot favourite's second at York and I reckon he's too good to waste an opportunity.
There are some trappy handicaps on this card but Ouef La Neige from Linda Perrett's yard has been progressing nicely and could surprise at decent odds.
