Kendal skipper John Trewenneck said: "Played three - won two this week is not bad, and we showed in both cup matches that we respond well to a challenge.
"We played very good cricket against Netherfield on Wednesday night in the Cockspur Cup National Knockout, kept our foot on the gas and concentrated - I think we wanted it more.
"Whether playing 20 overs or 40, you play to the best of your abilities and we did that.
"It's character-building stuff for the young lads to take part in matches like that where there is a bit of an edge and people like Chris Miller have benefited to come through and be senior players.
"Monday's derby game will be interesting and Netherfield will have all their stars, including Charl Langeveldt.
"He was asking about our players and that's very respectful, but he's a professional and you expect that.
"We just hope they keep the covers on the wicket this year as we want to play a bit of cricket!
"We are still conscious that we must re-focus in the league. Once again we lost early wickets against Lancaster on Saturday because we were guilty of trying to push on because of the weather, and we must not have pre-conceived ideas of the capabilitities of the opposition."
Scott Clement, the Netherfield skipper, said: "We are hoping that Charl's arrival will bring us the lift we need after a stop-start six weeks.
"He is keen to get on with the job now and I'm sure he'll fit in well and a derby game is just the sort of competitive contest for him to show what he can do.
"It was disappointing to lose against Kendal on Wednesday but there will be four or five personnel changes on both sides for Monday and it will be a different game.
"Ryan Wilson and Graeme Dodds were positives to come out of the midweek clash despite the defeat. It was a chance for other players to show what strength-in-depth we have at the club but it didn't happen."
