TAIL-ender Iain Burstow smashed a unbeaten 26 to tilt a finely-balanced finish back to Lancaster in the 3D Sports Northern Premier League.

Burstow's quickfire runs sealed a two-wicket win for the visitors at Kendal's Shap Road ground on Saturday. He also starred with the ball as he took 4-23 to go alongside skipper Tim Barry's 5-47.

A see-sawing contest saw Kendal reach 100 for two wickets and then lose their last eight for only 31 runs. Terry Hunte fared best for Kendal with 37 and the two openers Ikram Ullah (28) and Kevin Howarth (23).

Set to chase 133 off a rain-reduced 38 overs, Lancaster looked to be cruising at 52 for only the loss of Jamie Heywood after 18 overs - leaving them needing 82 to win off 20 overs.

In-form off-spinner Chris Miller (4-39) had his say, with a victim in four successive overs, and with New Zealand paceman Graham Aldridge (3-43) picking up a couple, Lancaster collapsed from 86-3 to 100-7 with only three overs to go.

Crucially, Burstow's 26 in 11 balls swung the advantage back to Lancaster as 15 was carved off one over. Another wicket fell in the penultimate over, but Lancaster were back on course and hit the winning runs with three balls to spare at 135-8.
