WINDERMERE Marathon is back. The race has been revived by the Brathay Training Centre, Ambleside, and this Sunday (May 20) 1,400 runners are expected to try their luck on the circular tour around England's largest lake. Start and finish is on the Brathay Estate.

TOMORROW (Saturday), fell runners will be heading for Sedbergh, one of the first traditional galas of the Westmorland summer where races are being staged for both seniors and juniors. Traditional Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling is pink. Tel 015396-21958.

BASED in Carlisle, John Darwell is one of the UK's leading contemporary photographers whose work has been published and exhibited internationally over the last 25 years. CHARLES Ricketts and Charles Shannon were key figures in the arts in London from the 1890s to 1930. Ricketts's artistic and literary talents were wide ranging and Shannon, a lithographer and painter, was his life-long companion. IN THE Northern Premier Cricket League Netherfield have a rest week giving Kendal a chance to go above them in Division One if they can beat Lancaster tomorrow (Saturday). The match at Kendal's Shap Road ground starts at 1pm.

RUGBY has a final fling of the season as Ambleside and Windermere play a local derby, the first for many years. Kick-off at Ambleside is at 3pm.
