CARNFORTH'S batting let them down as they struggled to a losing draw against Netherfield on Saturday.

Batting firth the Kendal outfit smashed the Carnforth attack for 295-5 as substitute professional Gulam Ali hit 87 and Chris Parry 59 as the pair shared a second-wicket stand of 141.

Ryan Brown (43) and Cumberland star Mark Daly (38) made late runs as Ben Hornby claimed 3-60.

Carnforth needed a good star but they lost three wickets for 14 runs, although Ryan Nelson did his bit to reach 50 before Darren Moore made 24.

But the locals were left to bat out their overs to hang on.
