Dalton Charter 10k Road Race (Friday 11th May) was won by local man Chris Winward in a time of 34 mins 19 sec.
Winward running in the colours of Salford Harriers had made the long journey from his home in Aberdeen and won the race after leading the 98 runners from the off.
18 year old Simon Barnby a student at Sedburgh School transferred his tremendous fell running form and took second place in 34.43.
Barrow and Furness Striders Garry Dixon was third in 34.57.
First lady was Hoad Hill Harriers Sharon Dixon who was 17th overall in 39.51.
Second lady was Striders Sue Sharp 46.03 and third lady was Windermere based Linda Harrison in 46.07.
Barrow and Furness Striders Garry Dixon, Dave Parker and Roger Quayle took the men’s team prize with Kendal Athletic club winning the ladies team through Marion Smith, Dianne Priestly, and Martina Houlsova.
Hoad Hill Harriers Daniel Gilfoyle the oldest runner in the field won the men’s over seventy prize in an impressive 51. 20.
The Charetr 10k is sponsored by Stephensons Estate Agents and Dalton Town Council, Dalton Mayor Bill Bleasdale presented the prizes.
